Approaching Storm 6x6 inch oil and wax on gessoboard

This is another painting from my painting trip to Washington Island in Door County, Wisconsin. I mixed my oil paint with Dorland's wax medium and applied it with a knife. I like the atmospheric effect the knife achieved for both the water and sky.
A storm was coming, but as quickly as it formed, it dissipated without any rain. On the island the weather changes very quickly. We painted on location with our cars not far from us so we could make the dash to cover if necessary!!
